Aluminium steel bars are admired for its lightweight, high strength to weight ratio, high corrosion resistance, high thermal and electrical conductivity, and ease of machinability, aluminum is often referred to as “the wonder metal” and is considered the ideal material choice for a variety of today’s critical applications. Forte Precision Metals’s broad selection of aluminum is available in cold finished and extruded rod and bar, wrought and cast plate, pipe and tubing, and sheet. We can provide material in a myriad of standard sizes, or custom processed to meet your specific requirements.
2011 is the most widely used of the aluminum alloys for screw machine parts. Because of its free machining elements, lead and bismuth, 2011 machines exceptionally well, its chips breaking small and easily, and can be machined to close tolerances while affording smooth, bright finishes. Fine aluminum chips equates to faster feeds and longer tool life. Forte Precision Metals Stock 2011 Aluminum Steel round bars, which has good strength and average formability. Electrical conductivity is 38% of copper. 2011 can be anodized to enhance corrosion resistance.
2024 T-351 Aluminium is an aluminium alloy with copper and magnesium as the alloying elements. It is used in applications requiring a high strength to weight ratio, as well as good fatigue resistance. Welding by any means is NOT recommended for this alloy because of the degradation of corrosion resistance that occurs as a result of weld heat. 2024 Aluminum has good to average machinability. Forte Precision Metals Stock 2024 Aluminum Steel round bars. Due to its high strength and fatigue resistance, 2024 is widely used in aircraft structures, especially wing and fuselage structures under tension.
6061 T-6 is a precipitation hardening aluminum alloy containing magnesium and silicon as its major alloying elements. 6061 has good machinability and good weldability. Typically, after welding, the properties near the weld are those of 6061-0, a loss of strength of around 80%. The material can be re-heat-treated to restore -T4 or -T6 temper for the whole piece. After welding, the material can naturally age and restore some of its strength. Forte Precision Metals Stock 6061 Aluminum Steel round bars which is one of the most common alloys of aluminum for general purpose use. It is commonly used for construction of aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselages, bicycle frames, boat building and a wide range of automotive parts.
7075 Aluminum is an aluminum alloy with zinc as the primary alloying element. It is very strong with strength comparable to many steels, and has good fatigue strength and average machinability, but has less resistance to corrosion than many other Aluminum alloys. Its relatively high cost limits its use to applications where cheaper alloys are not suitable. Forte Precision Metals Stock 7075 Aluminum Steel round bars which are often used in transport applications, including marine, automotive and aviation applications, due to their high strength-to-density ratio. Due to its strength, high density, thermal properties and its polishability 7075 is widely used in mould tool manufacturing. 7075 has been sold under various trade names including Zicral, Ergal and Fortal Constructal.
