2011

2011 is the most widely used of the aluminum alloys for screw machine parts. Because of its free machining elements, lead and bismuth, 2011 machines exceptionally well, its chips breaking small and easily, and can be machined to close tolerances while affording smooth, bright finishes. 2024

2024 T-351 Aluminium is an aluminium alloy with copper and magnesium as the alloying elements. It is used in applications requiring a high strength to weight ratio, as well as good fatigue resistance. Welding by any means is NOT recommended for this alloy because of the degradation of corrosion resistance that occurs as a result of weld heat. 2024 Aluminum has good to average machinability. 6061

6061 T-6 is a precipitation hardening aluminum alloy containing magnesium and silicon as its major alloying elements. 6061 has good machinability and good weldability. Typically, after welding, the properties near the weld are those of 6061-0, a loss of strength of around 80%. The material can be re-heat-treated to restore -T4 or -T6 temper for the whole piece. After welding, the material can naturally age and restore some of its strength. 7075

7075 Aluminum is an aluminum alloy with zinc as the primary alloying element. It is very strong with strength comparable to many steels, and has good fatigue strength and average machinability, but has less resistance to corrosion than many other Aluminum alloys. Its relatively high cost limits its use to applications where cheaper alloys are not suitable.
